Alumni Author Katie Coyle Reading & Celebration

April 10th, 2015: A mix of prospective, admitted, current, and former students, along with faculty and staff from across disciplines congregated to hear alumna Katie Coyle read from her recently published debut young adult novel, Vivian Apple at the End of the World.

At an intimate session for admitted students and an open event later in the evening, MMC alumna Katie Coyle (Class of 2008) read from her debut novel Vivian Apple at the End of the World. Dr. Jerry Williams, the coordinator of the Creative Writing minor here at the College, introduced his former student with reflections on her scholarship and immense creativity. After the reading, Coyle gracefully responded to questions from listeners regarding her technique, processes, and experience writing the novel.

After the evening Q&A, Dr. Peter Naccarato invited attendees to his residence for continued festivities and conversation.

These readings were in connection to the English and World Literatures’ alumni weekend, which also included the annual induction for the College’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta and a reception the next evening. Sigma Tau Delta celebrates it’s tenth year here at Marymount Manhattan.

The department of English and World Literatures would like to thank all who attended the events and a sincere congratulations to Katie Coyle. We hope for continued success for her and for all of our alumni.
