ALUMNI BIO
- I spent my last semester at Marymount interning at Columbia Records in their strategic marketing department and found a true passion for brand partnerships there. A week before graduating, I landed my current job at Epic Records as a marketing coordinator.
- Marymount’s internship program really opened doors for me. I had the opportunity to learn a ton and work hands-on at record labels with artists that I grew up listening to, while still growing new skill sets and more importantly, preparing me for a marketing role in the music industry.
- I currently assist two marketing managers at Epic/Sony and work with two artist rosters including Meghan Trainor, Travi$ Scott, Future, Kat Dahlia, Casey Veggies, Paloma Faith, Paul Rey, and many more. It was a total dream for me to work my first pop record (Meghan) from start to finish and have it land #1 on the charts after its first week. The album just earned RIAA certified Gold status and I’m still very proud to be a part of the release. I’m excited to continue working towards the next step in my music industry career!

My liberal arts education at MMC showed me the value and importance of equality and diversity and led me to channel my focus in the public interest sector to use my law degree to help those in need. Since coming to law school I have had the opportunity to work on public policy change with regard to urging domestic anti-human trafficking legislation, work in a clinical program providing immigration assistance for indigent clients, obtain a judicial externship in a federal immigration court, and act as an academic student mentor for incoming students.
-
The religious studies courses I took at MMC gave me the tools necessary to successfully work with clients, as I have a better understanding of other cultures and cultural influences and a handle on examining things objectively and maintaining an open-mind- characteristics that are crucial in law practice as a whole but particularly so with regard to client-interactions.
CAREER GOALS
- Alanna is now a J.D. candidate at Villanova University School of Law, expecting to graduate in 2015 with her degree in law.

While I was born in Boston, I lived in countries spread throughout Africa, Europe, and Asia before finally moving New York City in 2006. At Marymount Manhattan College, my International Studies major and Economics minor allowed me to take classes that not only strengthened my critical thinking and analytic skills, helped me focus my field of interest, but also stirred a passion for pursuing knowledge.
-
During my time at MMC I was the PR Representative for the I.S. Club and held internships in the campaign office of NY State Senator Liz Krueger, NY State Senator Tony Avella, and in the District Office of Senator Krueger. I also spent a summer studying abroad in Spain where I saw the true value of learning about a society and its culture first-hand. This experience was then furthered I was awarded the U.S. Student Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in Macau at Saint Joseph’s University (2012-2013).
CAREER GOALS
- In addition to the support from Marymount Manhattan professors and staff, my multicultural background, academic education, study abroad experience, and internships have all helped prepare me for my future in graduate school and a career tackling matters of political, social and economic development.

Following graduation in 2011, I accepted a 2 year fellowship as a Public Health Associate at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. My fellowship is with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

In the summer of 2010 I worked at a health clinic in Western Province, Kenya. I lived with a host family and worked full time with a local Kenyan staff. This was a great opportunity for me to get hands on experience in the field of global public health and to learn about a different culture. As I have always been interested in medicine and international issues, this experience served as a testing ground for a future career. I learned firsthand about the health issues which affect communities in Kenya, like Malaria and HIV, and also learned about the effect that health has on development.
-
I then interned at Healthright International as a program intern for their Kenyan program and also as a development intern. Through Healthright, I learned how non-profits are run and how they manage their international projects from their headquarters in New York. It was a great learning opportunity for me as it gave contrast to the fieldwork that I have pursued in Kenya.

- While attending Marymount Manhattan College I had the opportunity to intern for The Rachael Ray Show, The TriBeCa Film Festival, Sesame Workshop, and The Dr. Oz Show.
- Over the summer of 2010, I received my first paying position as a summer freelance film transcriber for Left Field Pictures in New York City.
- In January 2011, after my second internship with The Rachael Ray Show, I was hired for their permanent Researcher position.
HOW MMC AND CAREER SERVICES HELPED ME GET TO WHERE I AM TODAY:
- MMC offered a slew of classes, especially in the fields of video production and graphic arts, which were particularly helpful in building my skill set for my resume.
- The Career Services Center was actually the reason why I chose to come to MMC in the first place! When I was a Junior in high school, the MMC brochure highlighted all the internship opportunities available to MMC students and I thought – this is definitely the school for me! I worked very closely with Susan Ach who is an amazing resource and mentor. She helped me to build the perfect resume, taught me how to write the perfect cover letter, and really demonstrated the importance of networking and keeping in touch with past internship supervisors.
- Because of all the amazing help I received from Career Services I was able to prepare myself for the “real world”, which is why I was offered my dream job straight out of college and am now working for the Rachael Ray Show.
