Awards

Located in one of the most diverse cities in the world, Marymount Manhattan College understands that promoting diversity and inclusion is critically important in higher education.  The College’s commitment to this principle is highlighted in its five year Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan.

As a community, Marymount values those facets of diversity that are seen and unseen. We aspire to be a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community in which people of different identities – whether based on race, color, class, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic or national origin, political viewpoint, economic status, ability status, physical appearance, language or additional identities – are valued and respected. Accordingly, we strive to foster an environment where these differences, as well as differences in intellectual interests and personal perspective are explored and embraced as central to College’s educational mission.

In furtherance of that mission, The Marymount Manhattan College Inclusivity Subcommittee for Staff and Faculty Recruitment and Retention has established the Diversity and Inclusion Award (D.I.A.) to recognize a project by a faculty member that advances diversity and inclusivity and works to create a culture that is supportive, inclusive and welcoming to all within the Marymount Manhattan College community.

This award will be given once a year by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and will be presented at the April Faculty Council meeting.
