Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Addressing inequality, and the systems that perpetuate it, begins right here, on our campus. At MMC, we are working to create an environment that is inclusive and just for all members of our community, with particular emphasis on those with underrepresented and marginalized identities.

What is ODEI?

President Kerry Walk established the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Marymount Manhattan College in 2015 with the goal of increasing institutional support of individuals from marginalized populations. Since then, ODEI has worked to ensure the values of diversity and inclusion are embedded into the structure of the college at all levels.

Mission

The mission of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) is to be a thought partner with the MMC community in developing a diverse environment reflective of our global society, implementing equitable practices and fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all.

ODEI develops collaborative partnerships, educational opportunities, and guides policy development that will help in shaping MMC’s future as an institution committed and accessible to all.

Vision

We aspire to help create a college community reflective of our global society, where students can develop a deeper understanding of the society they will impact as global citizens, develop a college-wide culture that understands the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in fulfilling the college’s mission and where it is embedded into the fabric of the institution.
