Garafano discussed reporting during a pandemic and answered student questions about the transition from student to working journalist. She specifically addressed the power of Gen Z in shaping news and stories, and encouraged students to find their voice. Recently, Garafano has gone viral on Tik Tok and shared tips on using social media to engage a greater audience. Garafano also offered feedback on the class launch of TwoTwoOne.NYC, MMC’s first nonfiction digital journal (still accepting submissions via Submittable!).
