Journalism Students Tour Bloomberg Headquarters

On Wednesday, April 10, students in “Freelance Article Writing” visited Bloomberg headquarters on 59th street for a tour and mini lesson on financial markets as part of their coursework with Prof. Tatiana Serafin.

The class was hosted by wealth reporter Devon Pendleton, who took the group to see Bloomberg editorial teams hard at work. With the headquarters’ collaborative workspaces, our students had the opportunity to meet with key reporters during the tour, including Bloomberg TV anchors Renita Young and Tom Keene. Mr. Keene’s advice?  Always remember your audience.

Views from the 29th floor The students were also able to experience a live control room where they saw how feeds are managed and the number of people it takes to get information right on air. Another tour highlight: the views from the 29th floor which inspired students to set their sights high and focus on their digital journalism dreams.
