Student Spotlight: Senior Lauren Garafano Takes on Position at BuzzFeed

Lauren Garafano, a senior double majoring in Digital Journalism and Cinema, Television, and Emerging Media is excited to announce she has officially been hired as an Editorial Fellow at leading media company BuzzFeed.

Garafano has been a Community Contributor at BuzzFeed for the last four years while a student MMC, and now takes on the exciting opportunity of a full-time fellowship. In the year-long program, Garafano will have the chance to work side-by-side with BuzzFeed’s talented creative and editorial teams, mastering the tools and techniques of social storytelling.

“I’m excited to finally get to work at the place I’ve been dreaming of since high school,” Garafano says. To fellow students and young professionals in the industry, she offers the following advice: “The media world is constantly changing and we’re learning more every single day. Don’t ever stop exploring, learning, or growing.”

Garafano is a Resident Advisor (RA) in MMC’s Cooper Square Residence Hall and also serves as the Print Managing Editor for The Monitor, the College’s student-run newspaper. In addition to her longterm involvement with BuzzFeed, she has also completed several internships: two at Decider during her junior and senior years, and another at TV Guide Magazine during her senior year.
