EWL Honors in the Major Presentations
The Faculty Center’s Multi-Purpose Room was packed for a dual presentation by the English and World Literatures program’s two senior honorees. From her Spring 2015 independent study, Greer Temnick tied together literature, film, and theater through her presentation “Signifying Nothing”: The Unexpected Virtue of Endings in Iñárritu’s Birdman and Carver’s “What We Talk about When We Talk about Love.”
Shannon Woods, a double major in EWL and Dance, wove together literature and dance with her presentation “Narratives of Moving Bodies: Women’s Embodied Knowledge in Literature and Dance.”
Department chair Cecilia Feilla applauded the students’ works as “both theoretically sophisticated and interdisciplinary.” Feilla, a professor of English and World Literatures, was joined by many of her EWL faculty and even colleagues from across disciplines.
“They are very well poised to go off into the world because they have excellent oral and writing skills and their presentations were very professional and wonderful,” said Feilla.
The department of English and World Literatures and Division of Humanities and Social Sciences would like to wish Greer and Shannon nothing but success and sincere congratulations!
