Student Opportunities

The Dance Department offers a variety of opportunities to enrich the students’ already rigorous curriculum.

We believe that a well-rounded education includes participating in extracurricular experiences that augment the classroom/studio experience. Students can seek independent study as well as engage in some of the examples below.

  • The MMC Dance Company is a year-long competitive “residency,” casted by audition only, in which students work closely with some of today’s most important choreographers.
  • Options are available to continue training while being engrossed in the culture and language of another country by participating in study abroad programs.

  • Internships are available with world-renowned dance companies, magazines, physical therapists and non-profit organizations and often influence many of our dance majors’ future career paths. Many Dance Majors seek optional training with specific companies during the summer. Some of these programs occur on the MMC campus.

Students may elect to be involved behind the scenes and gain the opportunity to work toward a portfolio of work for future career options. Students have designed Dance Department flyers, engineered and designed sound for both DAW (Dancers at Work) and the Mainstage performances, designed costumes for DAW (Dancers at Work) and have photographed dancers both behind the scenes and on the stage.
