Marymount Manhattan College’s Plan for Fall 2021

Dear MMC Students, Faculty, and Staff:

I hope this message finds you safe and well as we near the halfway point of the Spring 2021 semester. This week marks one year since we made the shift to a virtual learning and working environment. I’m proud that our college community has done so well in navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 global pandemic, and I’m buoyed by the expeditious rollouts of three successful vaccines. We can now look forward with hope to the next phase of our journey.

For Fall 2021, the College will continue to keep main campus facilities and the residence halls open, and to continue expanding the number of classes that take place in person. We anticipate that 80% of classes will be face-to-face or blended (“blended” means having a mix of in-person and online components). All science labs will be offered in person, as will almost all performance and studio-based courses, which include acting, voice, and dance classes. Note that all in-person learning can swiftly move to a virtual environment should official health and safety directives require it.

A Special Note to Students — In the coming days, you’ll receive important emails from Academic Affairs and Student Success & Engagement about Fall 2021. Please watch your MMC Inbox for these messages. This is especially important right now because:

• The Academic Advisement Period begins March 17, 2021
• Fall 2021 Registration begins April 6, 2021.

I also want you to know that the College will not raise tuition and fees for the 2021-22 academic year. We recognize the many burdens placed on you and your families because of the global health crisis, and we want to do as much as we realistically can to assist you through this time.

Safety, Flexibility, and Community have been our guiding principles since the outbreak of the pandemic. I want to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for all that you’ve done to embrace these guiding principles. Thanks to your efforts, MMC has remained open since mid-August 2020, and we’ve done our part to flatten the curve. As we look toward the next academic year, I feel inspired by your care for one another and for our college community as a whole.
