IDS allowed me to explore interests and passions through independent studies, internships, and coursework that both challenged me and led me to building the curriculum I was proud to graduate with. Through my Interdisciplinary Studies curriculum at MMC, I was able to cultivate knowledge and experience in both my areas of personal and professional interest, including social and digital media, advocacy, and intersectionality among marginalized communities. Exploring the areas of Gender and Sexuality Studies has greatly contributed to my position as a Communications Associate in the LGBTQ+ nonprofit world by exposing me to different perspectives, identities, and societal issues that I come across in my job every day.

The public health field grabbed my attention as I took epidemiology during the start of the coronavirus pandemic. My understanding of the public health system broadened as I realized the health care system is beyond researching infectious disease; it directly relates to the mental and physical health of communities and individuals. The minor pairs with my psychology major because I can explore and understand the multiple ways in which an individual’s health can be affected and ways to promote health and improvement.

MMC allowed me to become a well-rounded theater artist. I was able to take courses in every aspect of theater, plus the liberal arts, and without that, I would not be running two theater companies today. The skills I learned at MMC have given me the confidence that’s necessary to succeed in theatre.

One month after graduation, I was offered a position as a Tax Reclaim Specialist at GlobeTaxServices, right here in Manhattan on Broad Street! My business classes at MMC, as well as my interaction with my classmates and professors, laid the foundation for me to acquire this wonderful opportunity, and to function every day confidently and productively.

The Philosophy and Religious Studies program at MMC is near and dear to my heart. The MMC program provided an excellent foundation in philosophy and gave me a home for four years. I would not be where I am today without the training I received at MMC. I wholeheartedly recommend the philosophy and religious studies program to anyone who wants a rigorous education in philosophy that values personal growth and creativity.

A few 📸 from yesterday’s Orientation Musical, directed and choreographed by Theatre Arts Professor Emily Clark and starring some of our super-talented Theatre students, who very generously gave their time and energy to rehearse and perform. The show, co-written by Clark and her students over the years, explored common fears among first years. Amazing job, everyone. We loved it! #nycstudents #nyccolleges ##theatrestudents

That's Isabella Paragas ’27, a double major in Musical Theatre and Business, and thee Jason Gotay ’11! Besides MMC, they share something in common: @sacmusicals, California's largest nonprofit arts organization. Jason starred in its recent production of "Sunset Boulevard," and Isabella's been working as an education and community engagement assistant for the organization this summer. Among other things, her team helps make theatre more accessible for blind and visually impaired fans, children, and underrepresented groups. We're doubly proud! 💙 #theatre #theatrearts #nyccolleges #theatrestudents
