I’ve always wanted to combine my love of music with my interest in business and my studies at MMC support that. As an aspiring jazz singer, musicianship classes are important to help hone-in on my craft. Because my music teachers are professionals in the field, they have also become my mentors. In addition, the business classes offered make me a better well-rounded artist because it provides me with tools to be more independent and make informed decisions behind the scenes of making music. A highlight of my studies at MMC was my internship at Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Branding, Sales & Marketing department. My experience included: assisting professional jazz musicians, going to concerts, conducting market research for an upcoming album, and organizing inventory for the in-house record label. After my internship I was selected to present my work at Honors Day. I am grateful to the business department faculty who were so excited and supportive of my collaboration of music and business.

During my summer internship, I worked on analyzing currency risk exposure, hedging activities, and presenting macroeconomic projections for Granberg AS. I was also involved in conducting marketing research by creating in-depth questionnaires, collecting responses, and utilizing SPSS software to evaluate and present results and suggestions on which direction the company should take in the future.

Minoring in neuroscience has given me a better understanding as to why we act/think/behave the way we do. Because of the complex nature of the courses I was anxious to take them but with Professor Hunter’s support and encouragement, I not only enjoyed these classes but excelled at them. My decision to minor in neuroscience after my freshmen year was purely a product of taking a class with Dr. Hunter. She was very passionate about the class discussions and always pushed us to learn more. I felt inspired every time I left the classroom, as my love for neuroscience grew. Professor Hunter was not only an amazing teacher but a mentor too, giving me direction and advice when I needed it. I can confidently say that Professor Hunter’s guidance has not only enabled me to succeed in college but also to pursue a master’s in social work at Hunter College in the fall! I can’t thank her enough!

A few 📸 from yesterday’s Orientation Musical, directed and choreographed by Theatre Arts Professor Emily Clark and starring some of our super-talented Theatre students, who very generously gave their time and energy to rehearse and perform. The show, co-written by Clark and her students over the years, explored common fears among first years. Amazing job, everyone. We loved it! #nycstudents #nyccolleges ##theatrestudents

That's Isabella Paragas ’27, a double major in Musical Theatre and Business, and thee Jason Gotay ’11! Besides MMC, they share something in common: @sacmusicals, California's largest nonprofit arts organization. Jason starred in its recent production of "Sunset Boulevard," and Isabella's been working as an education and community engagement assistant for the organization this summer. Among other things, her team helps make theatre more accessible for blind and visually impaired fans, children, and underrepresented groups. We're doubly proud! 💙 #theatre #theatrearts #nyccolleges #theatrestudents
