Campus Activities Board (CAB)

About

CAB is a member organization of the Marymount Core Council.

The mission of the Campus Activities Board (CAB) is to enhance student life at Marymount Manhattan College by planning, promoting, and executing social, multicultural, recreational, and educational events for the general student body.

CAB Elections | 2020-2021 Executive Board Application

  • Completed Executive Board Applications must be submitted by Friday, March 20, 2020, by 5 PM for consideration.
  • Meet the CAB Candidates Forum will take place at the March 30, 2020, CAB meeting in Carson Hall room 509 at 1 PM.
  • CAB Elections will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, and Thursday, April 2, 2020.

Please see the descriptions below for the responsibilities of each of the CAB Executive Board positions.

  • President

    The President will;

    1. Call and preside over all meetings.
    2. Delegate the responsibilities and manage the activities of the Committee chairs.
    3. Work with the Advisor, the newly elected Executive Board and Committee Chairs at the end of the Spring semester to create a calendar of events for the following year.
    4. Ensure that all committees are provided with any necessary support they may require.
    5. Represent CAB in a professional manner at on-campus functions.
    6. Support and attend CAB events and programs.
    7. Perform any additional tasks necessary and proper to the fulfillment or activation of the functions contained in this document.
    8. Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
    9. Be present at Core Council meetings and report back to CAB any updates taking place in the Core Council. If unable to attend, the President must send a CAB representative to the Core Council meeting.
  • Vice President

    The Vice President of CAB will

    1. Inform Student Affairs Coordinator of events to be published in the weekly feed by Wednesday each week.
    2. Coordinate and facilitate publicity and promotional needs (including flyers, posters, emails) by ensuring that all publicity is completed and posted in a timely manner, and approved by Student Affairs in accordance with published guidelines.
    3. Establish and update the CAB bulletin board with current and upcoming events as frequently as necessary.
    4. Assume the duties of the President in case of the President’s absence.
    5. Support and attend CAB events and programs.
    6. Represent in a professional manner, in the absence of the chair, CAB at on-campus functions.
    7. Perform any additional tasks necessary and proper to the fulfillment or activation of the functions contained in this document.
    8. Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
    9. Ensure all of CAB’s social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and page on MMC’s website are current.

    The Vice President will occasionally oversee larger events or event series (e.g. In the Nuge Coffeehouse Music series) as assigned by the CAB President.

  • Treasurer

    The Treasurer of CAB will

    1. Maintain and record an accurate log of funds coming into or out of the CAB budget.
    2. Work with the Advisor to ensure that documentation for all funding is accurately and correctly processed.
    3. Provide CAB with budget updates at meetings.
    4. Work with all the CAB committees to maintain and work with a budget on a regular basis.
    5. Support and attend CAB events and programs.
    6. Represent CAB in a professional manner at on-campus events.
    7. Perform any additional tasks necessary and proper to the fulfillment or activation of the functions contained in this document.
    8. Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

    The Treasurer is expected to support general CAB events and participate in committee work including event prep, event staffing, and breakdown/clean-up. 

  • Seretary

    The Secretary of the Executive Board of CAB will

    1. Maintain an accurate record of general CAB meetings.
    2. Make available the minutes from the previous CAB meeting to all CAB members within 48 hours.
    3. Maintain an accurate log of attendance at CAB meetings, not including individual committee meetings.
    4. Create and update an accurate contact sheet to be provided to the CAB Executive Board.
    5. Check and respond to CAB correspondence, whether electronic or other, on a regular basis (including CAB’s email).
    6. Support and attend CAB events and programs.
    7. Represent CAB in a professional manner at on-campus events.
    8. Perform any additional tasks necessary and proper to the fulfillment or activation of the functions contained in this document.
    9. Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
    10. Create and maintain an accurate copy of the End of the Year Report to be handed into the Advisor at the end of the Spring semester.
    11. Conduct general and event-specific CAB surveys to the student body when necessary and summarize findings to present to CAB, as well as include these in the End-of-Year Report.

    The Secretary is expected to support general CAB events and participate in committee work including event prep, event staffing, and breakdown/clean-up. 

  • Community Service Chair

    The Community Service Committee Chair of CAB will:

    1. Implement student activities, which reflect the particular goal of their respective committees.
    2. Delegate tasks and jobs to members of their committee.
    3. Report to CAB on the progress of their committee and their activities at all CAB meetings.
    4. Hold committee meetings when necessary.
    5. Work with the Advisor to ensure that all appropriate documentation has been completed and filed with the appropriate offices.
    6. Report to the Treasurer on all incoming and outgoing funds within the committee.
    7. Ensure that an accurate record of all activities is filed.
    8. Ensure that publicity for events that fall within their respective committee is provided.
    9. Perform tasks delegated by the President that fall within the interests of their committee.

    The Community Service Chair is responsible for organizing CAB community engagement programs and service opportunities (collaborating with Marymount Muscle, co-sponsoring Day of Action, and cultivating CAB specific opportunities like Midnight Runs and philanthropic walk/runs.

  • Diversity and Multiculturalism Chair

    The Diversity and Multiculturalism Committee Chair of CAB will:

    1. Implement student activities, which reflect the particular goal of their respective committees.
    2. Delegate tasks and jobs to members of their committee.
    3. Report to CAB on the progress of their committee and their activities at all CAB meetings.
    4. Hold committee meetings when necessary.
    5. Work with the Advisor to ensure that all appropriate documentation has been completed and filed with the appropriate offices.
    6. Report to the Treasurer on all incoming and outgoing funds within the committee.
    7. Ensure that an accurate record of all activities is filed.
    8. Ensure that publicity for events that fall within their respective committee is provided.
    9. Perform tasks delegated by the President that fall within the interests of their committee.

    The Diversity and Multiculturalism Chair is responsible for serving on the Student Activities Advisory Board where they will share CAB’s heritage month programs for inclusion on the SAAB monthly programmatic calendars; Chance to Dance, Festival of Lights, National Coming Out Day, Storytelling Through Soulfood, Taste of Culture, etc.

  • Mascot Coordinator

    The Mascot Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the Griffy costume maintenance, use, and cleaning. They will

    • Identify opportunities for Griffy to appear at CAB sponsored programming
    • Develop Griffy specific public appearances (e.g. handing out flowers for Valentine’s Day, appearing periodically throughout the week for random selfies in seasonal or themed costumes, to support programming of other Registered Student Organizations, etc.).
    • Coordinate requests from MMC offices and RSOs for Griffy appearances at specific programming that is sponsored by those offices or RSOs (e.g. Accepted Students Day, 48 Play Festival, Cinemaniacs Film Festival, Science Society Organ Donation Drive, etc.).
    • Actively recruit volunteers to perform as Griffy and see that they are supported during their performances.
  • Special and Annual Events Chair

    The Special and Annual Events Committee Chair of CAB will:

    1. Implement student activities, which reflect the particular goal of their respective committees.
    2. Delegate tasks and jobs to members of their committee.
    3. Report to CAB on the progress of their committee and their activities at all CAB meetings.
    4. Hold committee meetings when necessary.
    5. Work with the Advisor to ensure that all appropriate documentation has been completed and filed with the appropriate offices.
    6. Report to the Treasurer on all incoming and outgoing funds within the committee.
    7. Ensure that an accurate record of all activities is filed.
    8. Ensure that publicity for events that fall within their respective committee is provided.
    9. Perform tasks delegated by the President that fall within the interests of their committee.

    The Special and Annual Events Chair is responsible for planning and implementing major campus-wide initiatives like Apple Fest street fair, Homecoming Fair and Flag Football on Roosevelt Island, CAB’s Annual Drag Show, Strawberry Festival, and others as assigned through general meeting event development processes. Some events will require the SAE Chair to plan and coordinate resources and volunteers during the winter and summer breaks as the major programs take place at the beginning of the semester. Candidates for SAE Chair must be available to coordinate programs during these breaks. 

  • Off-Campus Events Chair

    The Off-Campus Events Committee Chair of CAB will:

    1. Implement student activities, which reflect the particular goal of their respective committees.
    2. Delegate tasks and jobs to members of their committee.
    3. Report to CAB on the progress of their committee and their activities at all CAB meetings.
    4. Hold committee meetings when necessary.
    5. Work with the Advisor to ensure that all appropriate documentation has been completed and filed with the appropriate offices.
    6. Report to the Treasurer on all incoming and outgoing funds within the committee.
    7. Ensure that an accurate record of all activities is filed.
    8. Ensure that publicity for events that fall within their respective committee is provided.
    9. Perform tasks delegated by the President that fall within the interests of their committee.

    The Off-Campus Events Chair is responsible for identifying event opportunities (performing arts, athletics, cultural exhibitions, etc) within the five boroughs of NYC and planning a slate of those events each semester; Broadway shows, pro-sport games (Yankees, Knicks, Nets, etc.), Brooklyn Flea, Highline and Chelsea Market Food Tours, etc.
