Alumni Spotlight: Maria Andrews ’17 on her Fulbright ETA in Malaysia

Maria Andrews ’17, an International Studies and Dance major at MMC, received the prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) grant to teach in Malaysia from January to November 2018.

Based in the Tanah Merah Secondary School in Malaysia’s state of Kedah, Andrews spent a year teaching English to her students, exploring Malaysian culture, and building relationships with her fellow teachers and host family.

Andrews was featured in the local news channel’s Kami Sayang Teacher series, which introduces 12 of the 100 US graduates who spent 2018 as English Teaching Assistants in Malaysia through the Fulbright grant. For more about Maria, read here.

In Memoriam: Eileen P. McCardle ’50, One of “Original Four” MMC Graduates

The entire Marymount Manhattan College community mourns the loss of Eileen P. McCardle ’50, one of the four original graduates of MMC’s inaugural class. With us since our beginning in Tarrytown, New York, Mrs. McCardle remained an impassioned supporter of the College and its alumni. Her generosity and spirit will always be remembered.
