MMC Alumna’s Break-Out Novel Acquired by Sight Unseen Pictures

Congratulations are in order for Class of 2010’s Kiley Reid whose debut novel was purchased in a ten-publisher auction by Bloomsbury and swiftly picked up by Emmy-award winner Lena Waithe’s production company, Hillman Grad Productions.

Kiley, an Acting major and minor in Religious Studies, is currently pursuing a Masters in Fine Arts at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop where she was awarded the Truman Capote Fellowship. Her short stories have been featured and are forthcoming in December(opens in a new tab), Lumina(opens in a new tab), New South(opens in a new tab), Ploughshares(opens in a new tab), and others.

The novel, which explores the complicated nature of transactional relationships, of being a “grown up,” and of doing the right thing for the wrong reasons, is set to be published in Fall 2019.
