First Generation at MMC

At Marymount Manhattan College, we understand the unique experiences of students who are the first in their immediate families to attend college, and we seek to provide a space to support their academic, professional, and personal needs.

Who is a First-Generation Student?

A first generation college student is a student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) has not earned a bachelor’s degree in the United States or abroad. Here at Marymount Manhattan College, approximately 38% of the incoming class identify as a first-generation college student.

What Support is Provided to First-Gen Students?

The Intercultural Center supports students who identify as first-generation. The Center provides opportunities for students to build community with each other, receive social support, gain access to resources, and work towards their professional development.

Check out our workshops and events section in order to participate in upcoming activities geared towards First Gen students and our Mentor Program to get connected to one of our on campus professionals.
