Engagement Opportunities

Intercultural Student Council

The Intercultural Student Council is an umbrella resource for identity-based organizations. The mission of the council is to ensure that opportunities for student engagement and programming exist around cultural celebratory months. Together, the Council will meet to discuss goals for individual organizations, share events and programs with each other to consider collaborative possibilities. Additionally, the ISC will investigate areas of student interest, suggest and plan large-scale events to drive student engagement around cultural events, and institutionalize these programs at MMC.

Cultural Peer Mentors

Cultural Peer Mentors (CPMs) are student leaders who help new international students become acclimated to Marymount Manhattan College and to the larger New York City community. Those selected to become CPMs will participate in training by College staff to gain the skills necessary to enable them to serve as resources for international students. CPMs interact with new international students to provide them with a clear understanding of MMC life and opportunities while encouraging their involvement in the College community. They are role models, advisors, and friends, but most of all, they are students themselves who care about helping their classmates from abroad integrate seamlessly into college life.

The Social Justice Ambassador Program aims to assess some of the ways societal structures perpetuates privilege and oppression through institutions and individuals. The format of the program will be weekly meetings and consist of group discussions, interactive activities, presentations, and reflections. At the end of the program, ambassadors will be required to present in groups at the Social Justice Talk Back on what they have learned from the Social Justice Ambassador program.
