Professor Mold’s views and advice on auditioning for college theatre programs, directing, and preparing for a career as a professional actor have been published in The New York Times, Stage Directions, and BackStage.

Professor Mold teaches Intermediate Scene Study (THTR 341), Advanced Scene Study (THTR 342), Professional Preparation: The Business of Acting (THTR 418), Theatre Production: Main Stage (THTR 343), and Directing III (THTR 406).  Professor Mold has taught drama and acting in the Special Studies program at the renowned Chautauqua Institution.  He has also taught acting and directing at Jordan College of Fine Arts, Butler University, dramatic literature at DePaul University, acting at American Musical and Dramatic Academy, the Commonwealth School, and the New Ehrlich Theatre Conservatory in Boston, where he was also the Education Director.

He has conducted master classes and workshops on auditioning for college theatre programs in Chicago, Dallas, Orlando, San Francisco and West Palm Beach. 

A professional stage director, Professor Mold is currently the Associate Artistic Director of Hip to Hip Theatre Company, which tours free Shakespeare productions out of doors each summer to New York City area parks.  For Hip to Hip, he has directed Richard III, Hamlet, Love’s Labor’s Lost, Cymbeline, The Merchant of Venice, and As You Like It. In New York, he has also directed Hamlet and Macbeth at the American Globe Theatre for the What Makes Shakespeare Great lecture/reading series.  For the annual 15-Minute Play Festival produced by the Turnip Theatre and American Globe he has directed the new play Action & Reaction by Jo-el Doty. He has collaborated with the opera composer Brad Detrick on The Yellow Star: A Little Light Dispels Great Darkness, in staged concert productions at The Museum of Jewish Heritage and for the Driscoll Professorship in Jewish-Catholic Studies at Iona College. Other New York credits include new plays by Louise Rozett: Break for On the Leesh Productions and Social Progress at Naked Angels; the cabaret performer Carol Alston-Abercrombie in 66% Sondheim, Truly Content and A Christmas “Carol,” all at the Triad Theatre; Lee Blessing’s Down the Road for Third Eye Repertory and Kafka’s Report to an Academy, co-directed with Gunter Meisner at the Gene Frankel Theatre. 

Professor Mold is the former artistic director of New Theatre, a theatre in Boston dedicated to the development of new American plays. In Boston, he also directed for the Open Door Theatre, the Alley Theatre, the New Ehrlich Theatre, and was a co-founder and co-artistic director of The Theatre Company, Inc. In Chicago, he directed at DePaul University and worked as a dramaturg with the Bailiwick Repertory and the Goodman Theatre. In Indianapolis, Professor Mold directed plays at Edyvean Repertory and Butler University.
