Science Senior Spotlight: Elena Markovitz ’21

Elena Markovitz is graduating this May with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Urban & Environmental Sustainability.

Elena Markovitz ’21 will be proudly graduating with her BS in Biology, ready to apply her skills to the ever-changing world of the biological sciences. During the summer, she will be working with the BioBus Outreach program to help bring the joys of learning science to all communities and build connections in the scientific world. After that, she will be doing a gap year, during which she will be applying to various Ph.D. programs around the country with aspirations to get her doctorate in the fields of Environmental Science and Marine Biology. Safety Precautions and Synchronous Learning: MMC Laboratories in the Time of COVID

As MMC worked to reopen its Main Campus for the Fall 2020 semester, the Department of Natural Sciences developed a plan to continue performing in-person laboratory courses while also accommodating remote learners. MMC’s science labs underwent extensive safety reinforcement to allow in-person students to participate in labs with their remote partners learning from home.
