Theatre Arts Professor Timothy Johnson Directs New Play for Flash Acts Festival

Johnson, an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts, directed These Days, a newly commissioned play by Jacqueline E. Lawton for the Flash Acts Festival.

Flash Acts is a virtual theater festival featuring twenty new plays by leading playwrights from the United States and Russia. The brainchild of the Forum for Cultural Engagement, Flash Acts commissioned 10 American and 10 Russian playwrights to write short plays on the theme of isolation. Each piece received virtual productions in both English and Russian, resulting in 40 different performances alongside panel discussions and music lounges.

“I would define this festival as an international labor of love.” — Prof. Timothy Johnson

A “live” filming of Johnson’s production of These Days, as well as its Russian counterpart which included a Russian cast and director and English subtitles, can be viewed here.

Congratulations, Professor Johnson!
