Nathalie Diller ’20 Awarded Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Czech Republic

Diller has studied through MMC’s consortial agreement at the International Center of Photography and has shown her work in student exhibitions at MMC. A longtime champion of teaching young students, she has volunteered for many years at the Sherman Historical Society in Sherman, Connecticut. Her Fulbright application was supported by her academic advisors, Millie Falcaro, MFA, Professor of Art, and Jim Holl, MFA, Associate Professor of Art, and by Nava Silton, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology. Diller was selected from thousands of candidates in colleges and universities across the country for one of only thirty awards this year to the Czech Republic.

“As an English Teaching Assistant, I would like to engage my students in a photography project focused on the ideas of community and social connectivity,” says Diller. “As I pursued documentary photography in college, I believe a documentary photographer’s purpose is to tell stories using visuals; it is also to teach, exchange ideas, and nourish relationships, all the while sharing this work with a wide audience. I am excited at the opportunity to teach English to students engaging them in both visual and verbal languages.”

Nathalie is MMC’s second Fulbright ETA recipient this year, joining Madison Weisend ’20, who was selected to serve in South Korea in AY 2020-21.
