Dept. of Natural Sciences Hosts Alumni Panel

On December 6, four alumni from the Department of Natural Sciences participated in an informational panel for current students.

The event, hosted by the Science Society, featured the following alumni:

Devin Columbus ’09, Clinical Research Coordinator, University of California San Francisco

Kirtan Kaur ’12, Ph.D. Student, NYU Langone School of Medicine

Alice Trye ’15, M.D. Student, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School

Keaven Caro ’17, Research Assistant, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

The alumni discussed how MMC and the Department of Natural Sciences prepared them for their post-baccalaureate outcomes, how their goals changed during their college years, how they achieved balance in school, work, and life, and what they might have done differently. The panel was followed by a reception, where participants continued learning about career prep while networking with alumni.

The Department of Natural Sciences is so very proud of our alumni and the mentorship they bring to our current students. We have many more successful alumni eager to share their experiences with our community, and the Science Society will hold additional alumni events this spring. Stay tuned!

Safety Precautions and Synchronous Learning: MMC Laboratories in the Time of COVID

As MMC worked to reopen its Main Campus for the Fall 2020 semester, the Department of Natural Sciences developed a plan to continue performing in-person laboratory courses while also accommodating remote learners. MMC’s science labs underwent extensive safety reinforcement to allow in-person students to participate in labs with their remote partners learning from home.
