Commencement 2015

Marymount Manhattan College held its 66th Commencement Exercises on Friday, May 22, at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.

On a beautiful afternoon, family and friends witnessed the Class of 2015 graduate with baccalaureate degrees, an extraordinary achievement and accomplishment. Guests were treated to a brilliant musical performance by Musical Theatre graduates and remarks from inspiring and distinguished individuals of the MMC community.

Remarks were given by President Shaver, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Hope Knight ’85, Valedictorian Joe Hetterly, Class Speaker Paul J. Adzima, Jr., and 2015 Honorary Degree Recipient, Robert Battle. MMC was proud to salute Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, whose accomplishments in dance and strikingly physical choreography have earned him a global reputation as a pioneering force in the arts.

The 2015 Commencement Exercises were also particularly special as this year marked the last that President Shaver had the honor of presiding over. During his fourteen years as president, he has had the distinct pleasure in witnessing thousands of Marymount Manhattan College students graduate and embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Many thanks to the dedicated faculty, alumni, staff, friends and family for a spectacular day and one that the graduates will remember for years to come. The Commencement Committee worked tirelessly to produce the event – a special thank you is extended to the executive committee, Linda Eder, Richard Sheldon, Zakkiyya Taylor, Marie Pace, and Diana Zambrotta, in addition to Kevin Connell and Christine Riley who coordinated the musical performance.
