9th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Biological and Chemical Sciences at William Paterson University on April 11th. Marisa Dunigan took the top prize in her category. All four students
conduct research in environmental chemistry at MMC.
Four MMC Biology students presented at the 9th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Biological and Chemical Sciences at William Paterson University in New Jersey on Saturday, April 11, 2015. The event featured more than 100 original research presentations by undergraduates from across the Northeast.
Marisa Dunigan presented her poster, “Antioxidant Activity in Edible Brown Seaweeds,” in the Physiology division. Marisa is a senior with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Special congratulations to Marisa for winning 1st place in the Physiology category!
Austin Gellis presented his poster, “Analysis of Arabian Sea Deep-Water Sediment Trap Particulates via Microscopy and IR Spectroscopy” in the Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Science division. Austin is a senior with a major in Biology and a minor in Environmental Studies.
Katherine Ness presented her poster, “Environmentally Friendly Alternatives to Chlorine Bleaching in Laundry Applications” in the Inorganic Chemistry division. Katie is a senior with a major in Biomedical Sciences and minors in Chemistry and Studio Art.
Rosie Wenrich presented her poster, “Organic and Inorganic Composition of Different Phytoplankton Species by FT-IR Analysis” in the Analytical Chemistry division. Rosie is a sophomore Biology major.
Marisa, Austin, Katie, and Rosie conduct research in environmental chemistry with Prof. Alessandra Leri . Congratulations to them for representing MMC so beautifully at this symposium.
