We've got more great stories of #MMCLove in allllll its forms, including these: 📸 1: APIDA President Isaac Smith and VP Serena Lo didn't know each other before joining the org, but they've gotten to be besties along the way, and their close friendship has helped set the tone for the group. 📸 2-3: Ashley Coppolino ’16 and Katie Kausch ’16 were assigned each other as roommates but chose to be friends, going to class, museums, and concerts together. "Almost 10 years after meeting, she was my maid of honor at my wedding," Ashley says. "MMC didn't know it, but they gave me my best friend for life!" 📸 4: PJ Adzima ’15 met his wife Julia Knitel at MMC, and they've been married now for five years. PJ stars as Elder McKinley in The Book of Mormon, while Julia is touring with Come From Away. 📸 5. After meeting through a mutual friend, George Iliopoulos ’11 and David Gilbert ’12 bonded over a night of #karaoke in 2011. They were married in 2017 in a gorgeous ceremony on the beach in Costa Rica. 💙

This #Valentines, we're celebrating #MMCLove in all its forms! 📸 1: Anna Belden ’26 and Hailey Meyer ’24 became fast friends after meeting at SDA’s Leadership Immersion Weekend and being cast in Play On’s production of Dry Land together. "Hailey is like a big sister to me and an incredible scene partner," Anna says. "I’m so grateful for her mentorship and her friendship!" 📸 2-3: Emani "King" Mack ’20, founder of The Throne, says the team "is like the fraternity/sorority MMC never had," with tight bonds among members past and present. That's him with the team last year when he came back to direct the Black History Showcase and with the group's president, Jasmine Williams ’23. 📸4-5: Talk about an enduring bond! VP for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty Peter Naccarato and AVP for Strategic Initiatives Katie LeBesco met in 1999 after sitting next to each other at a Humanities Division meeting. "I never imagined that 23 years later, I would be reflecting on one of the most important professional relationships and friendships in my life," he said. "The tuna fish sandwich she was eating that day was the beginning of a beautiful journey that has included teaching, presenting, and publishing in food studies and sharing many amazing meals together. How lucky am I to have found one of my best friends at MMC?" More stories to come! 💙

#Lablife! 🔬Chemistry Professor Alessandra Leri takes snapshots of students each spring during the first distillation experiment. So, what are they up to here? After combining sugar with yeast and nutrients, they distilled the resulting product to try to achieve greater than 90% ethanol (180 proof). #GoGriffins #NYCCollege #NYC #UES #collegesearch #organiclab #distillation #premed #organicchem #biomajor #postbac @mmcbiology

#MMCProud! There’s some incredible news coming out of our community!  ⬇️⬇️⬇️   📸 1: Playwright and screenwriter Shelby Solla ’18 is one of 34 musical theatre creators who recently began the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Grove at Goodspeed Musicals residency program. Solla and her collaborators are working on Salem, a campy musical comedy retelling of the Salem witch trials. See the link in our bio to read more.   📸 2-6: Griffins, grab your 🍿🍿🍿! The new horror-comedy She Came from the Woods opens in movie theaters across the country today, and it’s an MMC family affair! Adam Weppler ’12 was one of the film’s producers, and the movie also features MMC alums Cory Asinofsky ’12, Cody Boccia ’12, and Madeleine Dauer ’14, pictured here. It stars Cara Buono (Stranger Things) and William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption). 💙   #GoGriffins #NYCColleges #NYC #UES #theatrelife #theatrestudents #cinema #collegesearch

When you live in #NYC, you learn to watch where you step. 👀 But how long do certain pathogens persist—and are your shoes really tracking them inside? Biology alum Marjan Khan ’20 and Chemistry professor Alessandra Leri, Ph.D.,  recently published a study in the journal Indoor and Built Environment quantifying fecal pathogens on New York City sidewalks, on shoe soles and in the indoor environment. Among other things, they found very high numbers on indoor carpeted floors. Click the link in our bio to learn more. At MMC, you won’t just find your best friends for life—you’ll meet the folks you end up working with! That’s true for Rikki Ziegelman ’18 and Hayden Anderson ’17, co-founders of the theatre company @harptheatricals, and producers and playwrights Lee Harrison Daniel ’21 and Max Berry ’20, who are helping artists tell their stories through @firstkisstheatre. “Being yourself and building relationships that are meaningful to you on a personal level can naturally breed opportunities,” Anderson said.
