Westchester Community College
Marymount Manhattan College will guarantee admission for students that complete specific Associate Degree programs including Communication and Media Studies, Global Business, Business Administration, Liberal Arts and Sciences/Humanities, Liberal Arts and Sciences/Social Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences/Mathematics and Science, Journalism, Marketing, and Digital Filmmaking at Westchester Community College. Students will be required to have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA by the start of their final semester of their associate program (or final evaluation will be reviewed at the culmination of the associate degree in the hope that the student will reach a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.) Students will receive 60 credits to transfer to Marymount Manhattan College for all coursework completed at Westchester Community College as long as they receive a final grade of “A” “B” or “C” (C- also accepted.) Students that complete their associate program with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or greater would receive the $2000 per year Articulation Grant. This award would be allotted to the student once per year for a maximum of three years provided they maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
For students that take advantage of the guaranteed admission agreement, Marymount Manhattan College will waive our lower level course requirements of the general education curriculum (24 out of 42 credits will be waived.) This would include courses in Math and Writing (English.) All students will also transfer into Marymount Manhattan College with junior class standing. However, all incoming students using this agreement will be required (in their first semester) to take a six week Transfer Community Workshop course which is meant to assist them in acclimating to college life at Marymount Manhattan College. It should also be noted that for certain majors, this agreement does not automatically guarantee degree conferral within two years. The expected date of graduation for each program is provided below. For further clarification on this, students may always contact one of the transfer admission representatives in the office of admission by calling 212-517-0430, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
Below, is the listing of programs included in the guaranteed admission agreement between Marymount Manhattan College and Westchester Community College. Students should continue in the same or similar program at Marymount Manhattan College or they do run the risk of nullifying the agreement. Prior to submitting a transfer application to Marymount Manhattan College, students should meet with transfer advisement representatives at Westchester Community College and admission representatives at Marymount Manhattan College to be sure they are on the path to being permitted to take advantage of the guaranteed admission agreement. While Marymount Manhattan College operates on a rolling admission basis, the sooner students meet with the proper staff the longer time there is to finalize their transfer admission status.
If a student at Westchester Community College has declared a major that is not currently listed as an option for the MMC/WCC guaranteed admission agreement, it could still be possible to add the agreement. However, this would need to be done on a case by case basis, and would require the student to meet with a Marymount Manhattan College transfer admission representative. Additionally, while A.A. / A.S. programs have been matched with specific B.A. / B.S. / B.F.A. programs, students, in some cases, will not be required to select that specific program for their Bachelor’s degree, but confirmation of a new program would need to be given by the transfer admission representative.
