You’re not alone. As exciting as transition to Marymount Manhattan College may be, it can also be a scary time. Check out some of the most frequently asked questions that we get asked below.
If you still have questions, let us know! Send us an email at orientation@mmm.edu and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.
Welcome Week and Orientation takes place the week before classes begin. This year, Welcome Week will be Monday, August 23, 2021 through Sunday, August 29, 2021.
Yes and no. There are some events throughout Welcome Week that all students are required to attend, like the welcome sessions on Monday or the Understanding MMC Engage sessions on Tuesday. Events that are required to attend will be denoted as such on the schedule.
There are also plenty of social events that aren’t required, but highly encouraged. As much as this week is meant to help acclimate you to campus, it’s also a great opportunity for you to begin making new friends. There are plenty of social events to go to and make friends at like Griffy’s Get Togethers on Tuesday or our excursion to the Bronx Zoo on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, no. Welcome Week events are intended for new students only to allow them space right off the bat to acclimate themselves as new students. Students are welcome to meet up with families before or after Welcome Week programs if they’d like, but the programs and events themselves are student-only.
Families with questions can email Judy Cardona-Frank for more information at jcardona-frank@mmm.edu.
There is no official dress code for any of our Welcome Week or Orientation events. As long as you wear something that you feel comfortable in, that’s all that matters. We ask that you wear your Welcome Week t-shirt to New Student Convocation on Thursday evening, but that’s it.
Please note that part of Welcome Week involves meeting members of your academic departments, who may require or recommend a specific dress code during the academic sessions on Thursday.
The majority of Welcome Week events are designed to be free for all students. We’ve even worked in many opportunities for free food on campus for students to take advantage of!
The only events that will require payment are some of the off-campus excursions, like the dinner in Times Square or the excursion to see a Broadway show. All events that may have an additional fee associated with them will be denoted as such in the title and/or description of the event.
The Welcome Week schedule will be available to incoming students via MMC Engage. To access MMC Engage, either download the app from your app store or visit engage.mmm.edu/ and log in using your MMC email and password. More information will be made available throughout the summer, so make sure to come back to this page or check your MMC email for those updates!
