Traveling to the U.S.
Some travel tips for your first entry into the U.S. as an F-1 Student.
Do not forget to pack the following documents in your carry-on luggage:
- Passport
- F-1 visa
- Form I-20
Important to Remember

You cannot enter the country more than 30 days before the program start date indicated on your I-20.

You cannot enter the country after your program start date on your I-20 unless you speak with the International Student Services Office.

Make sure the officer stamps you correctly at Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The stamp should say “F-1 D/S”.

If you are traveling by car, it is very important that you get out of the car and speak to a CBP officer. They should give you a paper I-94 card stapled to your passport.
