Pi Day 2016
MMC celebrated Pi Day 2016 with the annual writing contest sponsored by the Department of Mathematics. Entrants submitted an original sentence, paragraph, poem or short story using the digits of π in order (3.14159265359…). Entries were judged by Profs. Wat, Ching, Margolin, and Meyers on cleverness, interest, and length. Monetary prizes ($100, $31.41, $3.14) were awarded to the best student entries.

Every year, the Mathematics department holds a College-wide π-Day contest. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit an original sentence, paragraph, poem, or short story that uses the digits of π in order (π ≈ 3.1415926..).

Lia Margolin, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Mathematics, presented a talk, “Constructing Fully Anti-Symmetric Four-Body Wave Functions Including Spin, Isospin, and Hyperspherical Parts,” at the 6-th International Conference in Physics (EuroPhysics2020).
