  • Yaniv Hadad, an international student from Tel Aviv, Israel, is a BA Theatre Arts major with a production and management minor.  “First days here were pretty hectic: new city, new life, new language, no friends… I kept asking myself if this was the right choice and did I make the right decision. I can tell you now, after the first couple of weeks - I sure did. The school is exactly what it promised to be, and much more. Besides the great department, the people of Marymount are lovely and fun. Can you imagine I have friends from Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Afghanistan, although not being able to travel to these countries as an Israeli? I find that incredible. The diversity and the cultural life Marymount offers are absolutely amazing.”

  • Shiori Ichikawa (center) and castmates from The Good Soul of SzechuanShiori Ichikawa, from Tokyo, Japan, is pursuing an Acting/Costume Design major with a Musical Theatre minor.  She writes, “I had dreamed of moving to New York City to follow my dream since I was little. I am so glad that I chose Marymount to make it happen. The small and intimate classes provided me a relaxing environment in which to learn. And MMC’s diversity gave me opportunities to expand my cultural and social vision. At the same time I could take advantages of the city full of inspirations. I would definitely recommend Marymount to other international students who are ready to step up and to make the best of yourself!”  Here, Shiori is depicted (center) with castmates when she performed in The Good Soul of Szechuan, a main stage production of the Theatre Arts department.

  • Alyssa McGuigan, who is pursuing a BA in Theatre Arts with Minors in Musical Theatre and Drama Therapy, hails from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  Alyssa writes,Alyssa McGuigan“I am an international transfer student and MMC was able to transfer the majority of my credits, which allowed me to take two minors. They were super helpful with organizing and submitting my student visa information which I appreciate every year. MMC is a very culturally diverse college and very welcoming to international and transfer students. I love the small classes, especially for theatre as the teachers are able to focus more on each student and really connect with them on a personal level. My other college had a minimum of 40-50 students whereas my theatre classes at MMC are less than 15 students per class. I love the individual attention that I get from all my teachers. It makes me want to work harder to be the best student I can be. I definitely recommend MMC to international students as they are very accomodating with your transfer credits (if you have any) and they make the transition process with moving to a new country and getting your visas a lot easier. Plus, it’s in one of the greatest cities in the world! Who wouldn’t want to experience a college in the city that never sleeps? Especially for me as a theatre student where Broadway is a short walk away!”
