About

Dr. Martínez-Novoa earned a Ph.D. in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Bryan School of Business and Economics. Dr. Martinez-Novoa also holds an MBA in Marketing and a BA in Public Communication with emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising both from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. 

As a doctoral student and senior teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Dr. Martinez-Novoa was honored with the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant award. Her research interests include the social psychological aspects of dress, negative aspects of consumption, and Hispanics/Latinos consumption practices.

Before joining Marymount, Dr. Martinez-Novoa taught courses such as Survey of History Costume, Social Psychology of Dress, and Internship in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies, and did consulting for a market research firm. Presently, she teaches a variety of courses including The Business of Fashion, Global Fashion Business, and International Marketing and is the faculty advisor for the Fashion Marketing Student Association and Spoon University.

Ph.D. in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Bryan School of Business and Economics.

MBA in Marketing and a BA in Public Communication with emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising both from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus.
