Marymount Manhattan College 2014 Commencement

On May 23, 2014, over 400 graduates participated in Marymount Manhattan College’s 65th Commencement Exercises at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center.

Commencement featured the traditional procession of faculty, administrators and graduates. The ceremony was led by David Podell, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty. Remarks were presented by President Judson R. Shaver Ph.D., and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Hope D. Knight ’85.  Rabbi Philip Hiat presented the benediction.

Marymount Manhattan College presented honorary degrees to Andrew Ross Sorkin, Patricia Birch, and Frank Wildhorn.

Valedictorian Josephine Ancelle, and senior class speaker Ramshah Kanwal addressed their classmates during the ceremony. Musical Theatre graduates performed the National Anthem, and a musical interlude featured Adrienne Warren ’09 singing “Finding Wonderland.”

Math Department Holds The Eleventh Annual Pi-Day Contest

Every year, the Mathematics department holds a College-wide π-Day contest. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit an original sentence, paragraph, poem, or short story that uses the digits of π in order (π ≈ 3.1415926..).
