Enrollment is up for Incoming Freshman and Transfer Students

(New York, NY) Marymount Manhattan is pleased to announce that its incoming class of freshmen and transfer students is the largest in the history of the College. MMC has seen an 11 percent increase in full-time students and a 20 percent increase in part-time students as compared to fall 2006.

Academically, these students are very accomplished, boasting slightly higher standardized test scores and grade point averages than last year’s incoming class.

The College also welcomes 29 international students, hailing from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Spain, Switzerland, Dominican Republic, and the United Kingdom. The increased number of international students demonstrates the College’s commitment to globalizing its campus and recruiting international students, particularly from Southeast Asia.

Thirty-seven percent of incoming students hail from New York State and 63 percent are from out of state. Twenty percent come from one of the five boroughs of New York City, which is an increase from last year’s incoming class. Eighty-five percent of students live in campus housing, which is another growing trend at the College.

The impressive enrollment figures for the incoming class for the fall 2007 semester at MMC represent the College’s continued growth and commitment to attracting a talented and diverse body of students.
