MMC Students to Present at Inaugural Undergraduate Research Exposition for Independent Colleges and Universities

(New York, NY) Five Marymount Manhattan College students have been selected to present their research abstracts at the first Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu) Undergraduate Research Exposition.

MMC biology major Jessica Stevens and accounting majors Danielle Addeo, Latisha Eustache, Martin Murphy and Stephanie Thomas submitted abstracts to the cIcu faculty review panel. The students will display their research posters along the “Well Wall” at the Legislative Office Building in Albany on January 22.

More than 70 student teams from 28 private, not-for-profit colleges and universities were selected to participate in the one-day event, where college students, faculty and New York State legislators will gather in support of their research and scholarship. In addition to the student displays, the program will also include a keynote address, guest speaker presentation and Capitol tours throughout the day.

While the event provides students an opportunity to network with peers, it also enables them to participate in the legislative process by visiting with state senators and assembly members. The expo will showcase the quality and variety of undergraduate research at private colleges and universities to policy makers. Students have the opportunity to set up meetings with New York State legislators and describe their research experience, relationships with faculty and staff, campus facilities and future research opportunities.

MMC congratulates these students for this prominent academic achievement, as well as the faculty members and others who have supported them.
