Updates Regarding Building Access - March 16, 2020

1. BUILDING/FACILITY ACCESS: 

• MONDAY, MARCH 16 - Campus is fully closed and there is NO building access for any student, faculty, or staff member. A cleaning crew will be conducting a deep-clean and sanitization of the building. No one else is allowed access.
• TUESDAY, MARCH 17 — FRIDAY, MARCH 20

• Student Access to Main Campus: 

• All access to labs, studios, classrooms, or other areas of the College for course-related work is currently restricted. The only exception is that students can utilize the computers in the library if they do not have access to the technology required to use Blackboard and/or Zoom as required by their professors from home. Students can only come to the library for this purpose. 

• If you are a student who does not have access to a computer or internet at home, please email studentaffairs@mmm.edu if you have not already done so.
• Per new guidelines issued by the White House today, only up to 10 students will be permitted in the library at a time, and all individuals are recommended to stay 6 feet apart while in communal spaces.

• The library will be open under limited hours this week:

• Monday - Friday: 11:00am – 6:00pm
• Saturday: 12:00pm – 5:00pm
• Sunday: Closed

• Lockers: We are aware that some students have items in their lockers. We are currently developing plans for how those items can be retrieved, particularly if you have already left campus. Please stay tuned for more information.

• Faculty Access to Main Campus: 

• Faculty can return to campus beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17. Peter Naccarato will email you about plans for limited in-person Zoom and Blackboard trainings on Tuesday and Wednesday. After this, all trainings will be conducted remotely. 
• Faculty will be permitted to access their offices as needed to obtain any materials that may be necessary to enable working remotely.

• Staff Access to Main Campus:

• Staff are all encouraged to remain home and work remotely starting Tuesday, March 17. We will be operating under Section III of the Emergency Telecommuting Policy. 
• Staff will be permitted to temporarily access the buildings as needed to obtain any materials that may be necessary to enable working remotely starting tomorrow. 
• Only essential on-site employees (as designated by your supervisors) will be regularly working on campus.

• Residence Halls: 

• All students who are able to do so are required to leave the residence halls by Thursday, March 19 at 10 pm. 
• If you are a residential student who has already left campus or who is leaving this week, please complete this form to inform the College of your plans. 
• If you would like to request approval for permission to remain in the residence halls, you must complete this form as soon as possible.
• The no guest policy remains in effect to protect the health and safety of our students, as well as their families. Families will be able to meet their students at the entrance of the building to help move any items, but only residential students will be allowed access to the rooms.
• Residential students leaving campus will receive a prorated refund on their room and board fees beginning Thursday, March 19 until the end of the semester. 

• This applies even if you are not able to completely empty your room at this time. 
• No refunds will be applied for students who are granted permission to remain in the residence halls for the remainder of the semester.

• C-Store and Campus Dining

• The 4th Floor Cafe and Starbucks are closed for the remainder of the semester. The C-Store will remain open according to the following hours:

• Monday, March 16 – Wednesday, March 18: 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight
• Thursday, March 19 until further notice: 12:00 noon – 6:00 pm

• Updated CDC Guidance: 

• The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that events with more than 50 people not be held in the US in the next eight weeks

• Large Gatherings/Events: 

• In accordance with this guidance, there will be no campus events for the remainder of the semester. More details will be forthcoming regarding which events and/or performances may be able to be rescheduled for a later date; we ask for your patience as we determine those possibilities. 

• Commencement: 

• We understand and share your disappointment about the cancellation of Commencement, one of the most joyous events of the year for our entire community. We have made the decision to cancel current Commencement plans at this time based upon the current guidance around large gatherings and in an effort to accommodate families who may have needed to make travel plans in advance. Rest assured that we are actively working to reimagine the Commencement experience for our graduating seniors and to ensure that their achievements are celebrated in ways that are consonant with their health and safety. Additional information will be forthcoming.
