Tips & Reminders Regarding COVID-19

Dear MMC Community,

Earlier this afternoon, you should have received a message via text and email through the College’s ConnectED emergency notification system. If you did not receive a text message, please take this opportunity to update your emergency contact information here.

As mentioned in that message and in our previous emails to the community, the College is diligently following and staying abreast of all of the guidelines set by the CDC, WHO, NYC Department of Health, and other local and state health authorities, and we will continue to do so as the situation evolves. Find continuous updates and information on MMC’s COVID-19 webpages (www.mmm.edu/coronavirus).

We ask all members of the community to join us in taking important steps to minimize the impact of COVID-19:

  • Dispel Rumors and Misinformation: There are currently NO confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our students, faculty, or staff. Cases of self-monitoring and isolation are precautionary and do not indicate suspected cases of illness.
  • Fight Stigma: This outbreak has been understandably stressful, but fear and anxiety about a disease can lead to unwarranted and harmful social stigma. Some groups who may be experiencing stigma because of COVID-19 are persons of Asian descent; people who have traveled; and emergency responders or healthcare professionals. Help stop stigma by knowing the facts and sharing them with others in your community.
  • Wash Your Hands: Personal hygiene is a critically important preventive measure. You can help prevent the spread of any virus by staying home if you feel sick, covering your sneezes and coughs with your sleeve (not your hands), and washing your hands thoroughly and often.
  • STAY INFORMED and STAY CONNECTED!: It’s your responsibility to pay attention to the guidance and recommendations provided by the College and by health authorities. Check your MMC email regularly and read your emails thoroughly; we are providing you with all the information you need to stay safe.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Counseling and Wellness Center (212-774-0700 or counseling@mmm.edu), the Dow Zanghi Student Health Center (212-759-5870), or send a message to safety@mmm.edu.

Sincerely,
