A Note on the College’s COVID-19 Self-Monitoring and Isolation Policy

Dear MMC Community,

As you know from our previous communications regarding COVID-19, MMC is closely monitoring the spread of the outbreak and is committed to keeping the MMC community informed about the actions the College is taking to ensure the continued safety of all.

As mentioned in our previous correspondence, MMC is following guidance and recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and state and local Health Authorities in managing our response efforts. In accordance with those guidelines, members of the MMC community may be subject to self-monitoring/isolation requirements in the coming days and weeks, which will require them to remain off campus for a period of 14 days.  This currently applies to any students, faculty, or staff who have traveled to impacted areas and/or have been in close contact with others who have traveled to impacted areas.

We are writing to assure you that instances of self-monitoring/isolation within our community are not an indicator of an increased risk of exposure for the MMC community. These are proactive, prophylactic measures that are being taken out of an abundance of caution and reflect our steadfast commitment to protecting the health and well-being of our community members.

We want to again remind you that the current risk to our community remains low, and as in any situation, we encourage students, faculty, and staff to stay informed, follow the recommendations provided by school and health officials, and take the necessary precautions to protect yourselves.

We will be in touch with any future critical updates; the College’s webpage devoted to COVID-19 will continue to be updated as well with important information.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact safety@mmm.edu.

Sincerely,

Carol Jackson, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Affairs

Peter Naccarato, Ph.D.
