In Memoriam: Hélène Louise Zimmerman

The Marymount Manhattan College community is saddened to learn of the passing of Sister Hélène Louise Zimmerman, a member for 71 years of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, MMC’s founding order.

Sister Hélène Louise died January 15 at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown. She was 90 years old.

Sister Hélène Louise taught at Marymount Manhattan College and served on the Board of Trustees from 1974 to 1976. She also taught at Marymount Secondary School, Tarrytown; Marymount College, Tarrytown; Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory, Tarrytown; and the Ursuline School, New Rochelle. She also served on the provincial council for the Eastern American Province.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1948 and made final vows in 1955.

A funeral mass was celebrated January 18 at Marymount Convent. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her name may be made to Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 50 Wilson Park Drive, Tarrytown, NY, 10591.

Math Department Holds The Eleventh Annual Pi-Day Contest

Every year, the Mathematics department holds a College-wide π-Day contest. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit an original sentence, paragraph, poem, or short story that uses the digits of π in order (π ≈ 3.1415926..).
