CommArts Professor Publishes New Book on Grandparenting Culture

Professor of Communication Arts Laura Tropp, Ph.D., published her bookGrandparents in a Digital Age: The Third Act, which investigates the changing culture of grandparenting.

In this book, Tropp examines the history of grandparenting and the changing depiction of grandparent culture from “old” to “hip,” including the development of the celebrity grandparent, the emergence of media technologies that allow for new communication and relationships between grandparents and their grandchildren, new rituals associated with grandparenting, the growth of the marketing of grandparenting as a new stage of life, and the impact the commodification of grandparenting has on our culture.

Grandparents in a Digital Age: The Third Act has been published by Lexington Books and is now available on Amazon. It will soon be available in MMC’s Thomas J. Shanahan Library.

Congratulations, Professor Tropp!
