MMC Mourns the Loss of Sr. Kathleen (William) Daley, RSHM

New York, NY - President Judson R. Shaver, Ph.D., and the Marymount Manhattan College community express profound sadness at the passing of Sr. Kathleen (formerly Sr. William) Daley, RSHM, 88, on December 3, 2009. 

Sr. William earned her B.A. from Marymount College, her B.L.S. from Columbia University and her M.A. in economics from Fordham University. She served Marymount Manhattan College as an assistant professor of economics from 1967 through 1974. 

Sr. William worked in the development department, as executive assistant to the president and in the Women’s Center, and was the freshman class advisor for several years. 

A member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 64 years, Sr. William also taught at Marymount School, in New York City and Tarrytown, N.Y., and the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Manhattan. 

Visiting took place on December 7 followed by a vigil service. A funeral mass was held December 8. Both services were offered at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue in Tarrytown, N.Y. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains. 

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Sr. William’s name may be made to the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 50 Wilson Park Drive, Tarrytown, NY 10591.

Math Department Holds The Eleventh Annual Pi-Day Contest

Every year, the Mathematics department holds a College-wide π-Day contest. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit an original sentence, paragraph, poem, or short story that uses the digits of π in order (π ≈ 3.1415926..).
