Faculty News: Hallie Cohen Accepted as Visiting Artist to American Academy in Rome

Her project, Psychogeography, Film and the Meaning of Somewhere, in collaboration with writer Francis Levy, will build on their previous explorations of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Mamma Roma. The project interrogates Federico Fellini’s Roma (1972) and Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grande Bellezza (2013) in an attempt to unearth how Roman drama and comedy (including its classic Senecan and Plautine forms) have left their mark on the imagination in contemporary film and art. Cohen will apply classic film montage technique to large scale painting and with Levy will produce video and voice-over libretti as a means of promoting visual/verbal dialogue with the past.
