President’s Medal Gala to Honor MMC Women in Leadership

The College is proud to present the 2010 President’s Medal to theReligious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Anne C. Flannery ’73, Mary Twomey Greason ’86, Hope Knight ’85, Ginger Lyons de Neufville ’70 and Lucille Zanghi. These women proudly serve as trustees of Marymount Manhattan and have demonstrated their generous support and dedication to the College by leading various fundraising and philanthropic efforts to uphold the College’s mission. 

• Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary began their work in Sag Harbor, New York. They quickly expanded their work into parochial and private schools primarily in the eastern United States. Marymount Manhattan, founded in 1936 as a women’s college by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, moved to its present location on 71st street and became a four-year bachelor degree-granting institution in 1948. Members of the RSHM continue to serve as key contributors to the College. Three RSHM members serve on the College’s Board of Trustees.
  
  

• 	Anne C. Flannery ’73

  Anne C. Flannery ’73 is a trustee and served as Chair from May 2006 to May 2009. She is currently a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius, LLP, specializing in securities regulation, enforcement and litigation matters. Ms. Flannery also spent several years as a First Vice President and General Counsel for Global Regulatory Affairs at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc., and served in several senior positions at the Securities and Exchange Commission. She was formerly co-chair of the ABA Litigation Section Securities Litigation Committee; an Executive Committee member of the SIA Compliance and Legal Division; and served on the NYSE Legal Advisory Committee. Ms. Flannery has written and lectured extensively on various securities regulation and enforcement issues. She is a cum laude graduate of Brooklyn Law School and Marymount Manhattan College. She currently serves as Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and as a member of the Board’s Audit and Executive Committees. 
  
  

• 	Mary Twomey Greason ’86

  Mary Twomey Greason ’86 graduatedmagna cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Arts in art history. Mrs. Greason believes, and acts on that belief, that what the College has given to its alumni should in some way be returned to help those who come after. She has served as a trustee since 1995 and was a trustee member of the College’s Facilities Master Plan Task Force. Mrs. Greason is chair of the Facilities Committee and the Student Affairs Committee and serves on the Academic Affairs and Executive Committees. 
  
  

• 	Hope D. Knight ’85

  Hope D. Knight ’85 is a trustee and the COO of the not-for-profit Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone whose mission is to revitalize Upper Manhattan’s economy. Previous to that, she was VP, Institutional Equities Division at Morgan Stanley and worked for that firm in their Tokyo office from 1997 – 2000. Ms. Knight has twice been an Adjunct Lecturer at MMC in Corporate Finance courses and is an alumna of the College, receiving her B.A. in Business Management in 1985. She has worked in the Commissioner’s Office of the Department of General Services as Director, Planning and Analysis for the City of New York. Ms. Knight received her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and is an Advisory Committee Member at New York’s St. Michael Academy. She chairs the Compensation Committee and serves on the Executive, Facilities and Fundraising & Resources Committees. 
  
  

• 	Virginia (Ginger) Lyons de Neufville ’70

  Virginia (Ginger) Lyons de Neufville ’70 is a trustee of Marymount Manhattan College. Ms. Lyons de Neufville is Executive Director, Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association (MACIPA). A healthcare director with more than 17 years of experience in the healthcare and managed care industries, Ms. Lyons de Neufville collaborates with physicians, health plans, hospitals, networks and employers to develop mutually beneficial relationships. Currently, she is focused on implementing an electronic health record for several hundred physicians in her organization. Prior to her work in the healthcare industry, Ms. Lyons de Neufville was the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Associate Director of the Information Center and led the International Visitors Office for a combined 16 years. Ms. Lyons de Neufville is a Marymount Manhattan College alumna and a graduate of Simmons College Graduate School of Management. She is chair of the Trustees Committee, serves on the Executive and Investment & Finance Committees, and is also a member of the Campaign Executive Committee. 
  
  

• 	Lucille R. Zanghi

  Lucille R. Zanghi is a trustee of the College and the parent of a current MMC student. She was employed in the financial services industry for 20 years as a stockbroker, branch manager and financial planner, retiring in 1996 as a vice president of Dean Witter Reynolds. Prior to joining Dean Witter, Ms. Zanghi was with E.F. Hutton and Co. She has served on numerous nonprofit Boards, including Northeastern University, The Wang Center for the Performing Arts and The Brookline Education Foundation. Ms. Zanghi is currently a member of the Athena Leadership Council at Barnard College. For over a decade, Ms. Zanghi has supported efforts to raise money for homeless women and educational initiatives. She graduated magna cum laude in 1972 from Northeastern University with a degree in history. Ms. Zanghi is co-chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and serves on the Student Affairs, and the Fundraising and Resources Committees. She is also a member of the Campaign Executive Committee at Marymount Manhattan College.

This year’s gala co-chairs are Campaign Chair and Trustee Judy ’03 and Russ Carson, and Trustee Natasha Pearl and Richard Stowe. 

Gala proceeds support the increase of scholarship opportunities, an initiative of This is the Day, the Campaign for Marymount Manhattan. The College requests commitments by March 31, 2010, so contributions will help the College secure a $1.5 million challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation. 

To be included on the Gala Committee list, invitees may choose to reserve a table for ten at one of the following levels: Leadership ($25,000 +), Benefactor ($15,000), Sponsor ($10,000) and Donor ($7,500). Gala Committee members will be included in the event program.
