2018 Valedictorian Announced

Jennelie Korbes, a Psychology major with a double minor in Forensic Psychology and Theatre, is MMC’s 2018 Valedictorian.

Korbes hails from Vienna, Austria and will be graduating with honors. 

As an international student at MMC, Korbes participated in cultural peer mentor activities and group excursions as well as the Alpha Chi and Psi Chi honor societies. Korbes was a founding member of the Neuroscience Club and served as Secretary. 

Her senior thesis was titled, Elderly Defendants Charged with Violent Offenses: Psychiatric, Medical, and Legal Characteristics. Korbes is currently working as a Forensic Case Manager at EAC (Empower. Assist. Care.) Network’s Brooklyn Community Re-Entry Assistance Network (CRAN).

Brooklyn CRAN provides transitional case management services for individuals with severe mental illness who are reentering New York City from Rikers Island. Korbes assists these individuals in receiving the mental health treatment they require and assists with any other needs they may have in order to re-enter the community successfully.

Math Department Holds The Eleventh Annual Pi-Day Contest

Every year, the Mathematics department holds a College-wide π-Day contest. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit an original sentence, paragraph, poem, or short story that uses the digits of π in order (π ≈ 3.1415926..).
