Freshman Biology Major to Attend Biomedical Summer Program

Aminata Wyatt-Ngom ’21 has been accepted to a biomedical Summer Enrichment Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Aminata Wyatt-Ngom, a freshman Biology major, has been awarded a competitive fellowship to participate in the Diversity Summer Health-related Research Education Program (DSHREP) at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI, this summer. As part of this program, Amina will be an active member of a biomedical research team at the medical school. The DSHREP is funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, an agency of the National Institute of Health. 

Amina reports, “I am so excited to get more experience in research and expand my science knowledge! I hope to take all the skills I learn this summer and become a better student throughout my college career.”

Safety Precautions and Synchronous Learning: MMC Laboratories in the Time of COVID

As MMC worked to reopen its Main Campus for the Fall 2020 semester, the Department of Natural Sciences developed a plan to continue performing in-person laboratory courses while also accommodating remote learners. MMC’s science labs underwent extensive safety reinforcement to allow in-person students to participate in labs with their remote partners learning from home.
