Dr. Laurence C. Smith to Deliver 2018 Barry Commoner Lecture on the Environment

Leading UCLA climate scientist and author of The World in 2050, will deliver the Barry Commoner Lecture titled, Climate Change: The New North, on March 13, 2018

A fascinating, cross disciplinary speaker, Smith gives audiences a glimpse into the future, and describes the world that we will leave to our children and grandchildren-one that is wholly different from the world we know today.

In this all-encompassing talk, accompanied by stunning photographs and graphics, Laurence Smith presents a balanced, politically neutral projection of what the world might look like in 10 years’ time, should current global trends in population demographics, resource demand, economic globalization, and climate change continue their current trajectories.

Join us on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 2:30–3:30 pm in the Theresa Lang Theatre for Smith’s lecture. Please email iaevents@mmm.edu by March 6 to reserve your seat. Space is limited.
