Alumnae Amy Young ’09, Diana Zambrotta ’09, and Katherine Carter ’09 featured in new play, Bite the Apple, at the New York International Fringe Festival

New York, N.Y.-The Other Mirror is proud to present Bite the Apple as part of the 16th annual New York International Fringe festival- FringeNYC. The dark comedy, written by Linda Manning, will have its first fully staged production directed by Katherine M. Carter.

Bite the Apple imagines the world of Grimm’s fairytale heroines some twenty years since their “happily ever after.” Cinderella is in a loveless, childless marriage, Snow White has too many kids, and poor Red Riding Hood can’t seem to drag herself away from the leering eyes of the wolf. Tasked with finally growing up, these women enter on a journey that requires them to unburden themselves from their fairytale past.

Award-winning playwright Linda Manning* steps into the role of Rapunzel; Ms. Manning is the recipient of a BRIO award from the Bronx Council on the Arts, and a semi-finalist for the 2007 Eugene O’Neill Theater Center National Playwrights Conferences. The show also features Jessica Arinella*, Annette Arnold, Diana Henry*, Amy Young, and Diana Zambrotta.

Katherine M. Carter, a 2011-2012 Playwrights Horizons directing resident and Artistic

Director of The Other Mirror will direct the production. The design team is comprised of Kortney Barber (Sound), Caitlin Cisek (Costumes), and Sheryl Liu(Set). The production stage manager is Stephanie Armitage.

The Other Mirror was formed in 2011 by recent graduates of Marymount Manhattan College, NYU, and Rutgers University. By creating adaptations for the theatre, The Other Mirror seeks to understand how our communities have developed for better and for worse. The work serves as the reflective device by which these tales can be illuminated, examined, or shattered.

154 Christopher St. Performance times are: August 11 at 9:00pm, August 12 at 12:00pm,
