Study Abroad: The Artist As Immigrant

November 2 – December 3, 2015
HEWITT GALLERY OF ART
MARYMOUNT MANHATTAN COLLEGE
All artists are immigrants, outsiders exploring and discovering new worlds. They seek either to uncover what is strange in the familiar, or journey to foreign terrains, in reality or imagination.

Join us for an exhibition that brings together visual and sound artists who discover new realms by mapping, photographing, painting, drawing, filming or constructing their experiences. International students and the MMC community are invited to participate in this practice of psychogeography.

Participating artists: Isidro Blasco, Carin Goldberg (Rome Prize 2014-2015), Frederick Hodder, Mala Iqbal, Tatiana Istomina, Pamela Lawton, Paula Matthusen (Elliott Carter Rome Prize 2014-2015), Karina Skvirsky, Susan Wides.
