MMC Biology Club Receives Outreach Grant

The Marymount Manhattan Student Chapter of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) has been awarded a $500 Outreach Grant for the 2015-16 academic year.

The ASBMB Student Chapter encompasses two student groups at MMC, the Science Society and the Pre-Med Club. The Outreach Grant award came as a result of hard work by the 2014-15 chapter president Marisa Dunigan ’15, who wrote the grant proposal with help from incoming president Rosie Wenrich ’17.

The chapter will use the ASBMB grant money for their science outreach efforts in the 2015-16 academic year. In particular, the funds will help expand the annual Give Us Your Organs event to enroll registrants in the New York State Organ Donor Network. The expanded activities will include a discussion led by an individual whose life was changed by organ donation. Look for details next fall.

Congratulations to our students for earning this competitive grant!

Safety Precautions and Synchronous Learning: MMC Laboratories in the Time of COVID

As MMC worked to reopen its Main Campus for the Fall 2020 semester, the Department of Natural Sciences developed a plan to continue performing in-person laboratory courses while also accommodating remote learners. MMC’s science labs underwent extensive safety reinforcement to allow in-person students to participate in labs with their remote partners learning from home.
