MMC-Hosted Psychology Conference Will Bring Students and Faculty from Over 20 Institutions to Campus

This upcoming Sunday, November 9, 2014, the Marymount Manhattan College Psychology Department will host students from over 20 universities and colleges for the 26th Annual Greater New York Behavioral Conference. Over 100 presenters from all over the U.S. will come to share their latest psychological research findings through student and faculty presentations and panels. Please join us from 12:30-6 PM for a wonderful day of enlightening presentations and panels (1:00-4:30), and for an award ceremony and a delicious brunch (12:30 PM) and dinner (5 PM). 1-2 pm: Diversity and leadership

In this one-hour session, Jean Lau Chin discusses her new book, Diversity and Leadership, offering new insights on social identities, diverse leadership styles, and livedexperiences for effective leadership in a growing diverse and global society. Her book is available for signing.

2:10-3:15 pm:  The legacy of Dr. Rivka Bertisch Meir (1941-2014)

Until Dr. Rivka Bertisch Meir passed away suddenly on August 14, 2014, she was a remarkably vibrant psychologist for over 30 years on three continents. She deeply touched many people’s lives in diverse ways–as a professor, therapist, consultant, and noted leader of international psychology.  In this two-part tribute, several people will briefly share how Rivka’s life touched theirs, and then welcome more reminiscences from attendees.  Written remembrances will also be posted.

Math Department Holds The Eleventh Annual Pi-Day Contest

Every year, the Mathematics department holds a College-wide π-Day contest. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit an original sentence, paragraph, poem, or short story that uses the digits of π in order (π ≈ 3.1415926..).
