A rainy day didn't stop Prof. Chapman's Retail Management class from visiting mebl, a furniture store located at 7 East 14th Street. Students met with the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Simonil (Sim) Rustomji, who told the class about the company’s uniquely sustainable business model and presented a few of the company’s current challenges. Students then completed a self-guided tour of the retail store, evaluating everything from the pricing to the arrangement of items to the window displays. Then the class reconvened with Sim to ask questions, share feedback, and generate ideas regarding how mebl can maximize traffic, conversion, and total revenue. This trip enabled students to put their retail knowledge into action while developing a deeper understanding of the challenges retailers face. A huge thank you to mebl for inviting our MMC students into their store and facilitating this enriching, hands-on learning experience.
