- Marymount Manhattan College’s float at the 2012 NYC Gay Pride Parade!
- Communication and Media Arts major Nicole Napolitano interns at the Village Voice. MMC students have interned at major companies like JP Morgan Chase, NBCUniversal, ABC News, Al Arabiya News Service, SONY Music, MTV, the Rachel Ray Show, City Ballet, the Met, MOMA, Lincoln Center, and the list goes on.
- Students graduating from the Bedford Hills College Program feeling accomplished. The BHCP offers courses leading to an Associates of Arts degree in Social Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology to women at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, a maximum security prison for women.
- Every year, hundreds of artists, critics, collectors, and curators visit our on-campus gallery, home to various types of work by well-known and emerging artists, as well as work from students in the Department of Art.
- Apple Fest is the fall kick-off for the entire community at Marymount Manhattan College. Activities include student performances, inflatable games, tent games, free giveaways, dancing, and a club fair.
- Every year, MMC gives honorary degrees to distinguished members of both the MMC community and the community at large. In 2005, the College was proud to grant an honorary degree to Hillary Clinton.
- This past January, fifteen MMC students spent four days feeding the homeless and hungry in Washington, D.C. as part of MMC’s Alternative Break Program. Students volunteered at a combined nine organizations, feeding hundreds of hungry men and women, and still made time to visit landmarks like the Smithsonian and the Washington Monument.
- An Off-Broadway performance space used by music, dance, opera, and theatre companies from around New York, the Theresa Lang Theatre hosts master classes, open rehearsals, and panel discussions with industry legends like Stephen Sondheim and Wendy Wasserstein. Students can also intern at the theatre to gain invaluable experience and behind-the-scenes skills.
- Last year, Marymount Manhattan College hosted Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, one of the leading hip-hop generation intellectuals in the country. Dr. Hill spoke of the issues currently facing students of color in today’s society. The presentation was assembled, in part, by student club The Black and Latino Student Association (BLSA)
- In 1948, the College moved to its present location on 71st Street, the former headquarters of the Junior League, and becomes a four-year-degree-granting institution.
- The Ruth Smadbeck Communication and Learning Center is a valuable educational asset which provides on-site supervision and training for students in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. In addition, the clinic is also a resource for the community.
- In 1981, Rosa Parks received MMC’s honorary degree as a tribute to civil rights activism and her act of courage that sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955. Other honorary degree recipients over the College’s history include Ethel Kennedy, director Sydney Lumet, senator Edward M. Kennedy, choreographer Twyla Tharp, and many more.
